Our Story

AquaTech Eco Consultants was founded in 2014 by Beau Williams after leaving a very successful seagrass restoration career with Seagrass Recovery, Inc. Prior to founding AquaTech Eco Consultants Beau Williams was with Seagrass Recovery, Inc. for 15 years, serving many roles ranging from project development, project management, and Director of Sales and Operations. During his time at Seagrass Recovery Mr Williams was involved in the first research and development of several innovative seagrass restoration techniques

Since 1999, AquaTech Eco Consultants staff have successfully transplanted, repaired and grown several species of seagrasses. The staff has completed more than 200 seagrass projects along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts of the United States along with the Caribbean. Much of the restoration projects typically achieve measurable results within 12-18 months. Techniques utilized by AquaTech Eco Consultants have been scientifically peer-reviewed and approved by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as well as by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Brian (Beau) Williams
Founder & President

Brian “Beau” Williams is the Founder and President of AquaTech Eco Consultants and owner of Aquaticus Plants. With more than two decades of expertise in aquatic habitat restoration, Beau has become a recognized leader in the field of seagrass and submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) restoration across the United States and Caribbean.

Under his leadership, AquaTech Eco Consultants has successfully completed hundreds of restoration and mitigation projects, restoring thousands of acres of aquatic habitat. Beau has overseen large-scale efforts including the Lake Apopka Restoration, where AquaTech planted more than 210 acres of eelgrass to enhance water quality and fish habitat, as well as the Port of Corpus Christi project, the largest successful seagrass transplanting effort in Texas. His team has installed more than 2.5 million SAV planting units (192 acres) across Florida, bringing measurable ecological improvements to freshwater and marine ecosystems.

Mr. Williams’ professional background includes over 23 years of project management in seagrass restoration, freshwater SAV cultivation, and nearshore benthic ecosystem rehabilitation. He has successfully restored over 30 vessel groundings in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary using NOAA/FDEP protocol. Beau has also pioneered the use of heavy-lift Agri-Drones for oyster seeding and aquatic habitat restoration. Through innovative drone deployment techniques, AquaTech has successfully delivered millions of oysters in projects such as Apalachicola Bay, where Beau’s leadership helped achieve precise, large-scale deployments of up to 9 million oysters per day with centimeter-level accuracy. This cutting-edge technology is now being adapted for broader aquatic applications including clam seeding, seagrass monitoring, and algal bloom mitigation.

Beau is widely respected for his expertise in multiple restoration methodologies, including staple, bare root, peat pot, core, and mechanized transplanting techniques. His field skills include SCUBA-based surveys, vessel operations, GIS analysis, and ecological reporting. He is also a frequent presenter at the Florida Environmental Permitting Summer School, where he lectures on seagrass mitigation projects and potential mitigation banking opportunities.

As Founder of Aquaticus Plants, Beau has expanded AquaTech’s reach into restoration aquaculture, supplying certified nursery-grown SAV species including Thalassia testudinum (turtle grass), Syringodium filiforme (manatee grass), Halodule wrightii (shoal grass), Potamogeton illinoensis (Illinois Pondweed), and Vallisneria americana (eelgrass). This initiative supports large-scale planting projects while advancing sustainability and ecosystem resilience.
